چکیده

This paper describes a new class of fused image displays called hybrid fused displays. Such displays can be created by gradually transforming a fused image computed by one fusion method into another fused image computed by a different fusion method, either in the spatial domain or in another domain. By defining either global image-to-image or local region-toregion mapping(s) between the two key fused displays, sequences of hybrid fused displays can be generated. In this paper we propose a number of global and local inbetweening algorithms which transform pixel-based fused displays into various region-based fused displays. The main motivation behind this research is that while pixel-based fused displays generally provide better situational awareness, region-based fused displays, such as cut-andpaste displays or pseudo-coloured segmentation maps, often lead to better performance in tasks such as target detection and tracking. Having the ability to generate hybrid displays between these two classes is essential for being able to evaluate their perception, performance and usefulness for various tasks in different scenarios and applications.

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...

Fusion of Panchromatic and Multispectral Images Using Non Subsampled Contourlet Transform and FFT Based Spectral Histogram (RESEARCH NOTE)

Image fusion is a method for obtaining a highly informative image by merging the relative information of an object obtained from two or more image sources of the same scene. The satellite cameras give a single band panchromatic (PAN) image with high spatial information and multispectral (MS) image with more spectral information. The problem exists today is either PAN or MS image is available fr...

Digital Camera Image Fusion Algorithm Using Nsct

a novel hybrid multifocus image fusion method. First, the source multifocus images are decomposed using the nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT). The low-frequency sub-band coefficients are fused by the sum-modified-Laplacian-based local visual contrast, whereas the high-frequency sub-band coefficients are fused by the local Log-Gabor energy. The initial fused image is subsequently reconst...

Object Level Strategy for Spectral Quality Assessment of High Resolution Pan-sharpen Images

Panchromatic and multi-spectral images produced by the remote sensing satellites are fused together to provide a multi-spectral image with a high spatial resolution at the same time. The spectral quality of the fused images is very important because the quality of a large number of remote sensing products depends on it. Due to the importance of the spectral quality of the fused images, its eval...

A Region-to-Pixel Based Multi-sensor Image Fusion

A region based multi-sensor image fusion approach is proposed in this paper. At the initial stage of our algorithm, noise is suppressed from the input images by applying a 3 × 3 filter mask. In the next phase, regions are segmented from the input images by computing similarity map image followed by marker based watershed algorithm. Thereafter, regions are fused by computing the relative importa...
